Dream Dinners from Irvine on Michelson donated delicious chunky brownies for the children and Salon Gregorie's hair stylists donated their time to The Art of Hair and Beauty Charity League for the For the Love of Children hair Cut-A-Thon at CampJoy. The children loved the Dream Dinner chunky Brownies! They also loved their hair cuts.

There were two children who stood out from the rest. One was a little boy who was at first scared to allow a stranger to cut his hair. As he watched the other children receive hair cuts, he then quietly walked up and with a shy timid voice politely asked if he could have his hair cut. I think he was expecting me to say no because of his demeanor, or maybe it was the abuse he experienced before the safe haven of the shelter and camp. You see he had a large bump and scar on his fore head. One can only imagine how he received them. After his hair cut he looked in the mirror. Spiky hair! Conservative short spike hair! That is what he wanted. His smile was from ear to ear. He actually had a bounce to his step. He ran to his assigned mentor to show off his hair cut. He was transformed, inside and out.

Trevor a very talented hair stylist at Salon Gregorie's and valuable volunteer to the Art of Hair and Beauty Charity League had the opportunity of helping another child who touched our hearts had a special story. Strong willed and a leader, a tough attitude is what she had. When you looked into her eyes she was so sweet, just had seen too much for her little life. You see, a volunteer from CampJoy saw her and her mother on the run. They were running on the street with all they had in their bag. The volunteer pulled over and asked if she needed help. With panic in her voice said yes. She was looking for a homeless shelter for protection. She took her daughter and was running from her very abusive husband. She got out with only the bag in her hand and her child in the other. Well, of coarse the volunteer took her called the contact who had the list of shelters and helped her get into one. She was quickly put under protective services. Not more than a couple days latter the protective services released her daughter to go to CampJoy. Her daughter had beautiful, bouncy, curly-Q hair. The kind of curls that will wrap around your little pinky finger by themselves and bounce with every step. This little precious princes wanted straight hair. So we gave her a trim and straightened it with a professional blow dryer, and ionic straightening iron. When she saw her hair she rested in her chair. The anxiety left her and she smiled. She smiled ear to ear and said as she laughed "I don't look like me!” She said "I look so pretty!” She then received the affirmation every little girl needs as everyone told her how beautiful she looked. This is one of the many reasons we do what we do here at The Art of Hair and Beauty Charity League. To help a child feel better, have more confidence, and know that you and I care will one day help them to make better choices. Thank you for your help in touching the hearts of these children.

Thank you for your interest in helping us help these beautiful children.Warmest Regards,The Art of Hair and Beauty Charity League

Here is another really cool testimonial to encourage you today.

The Art of Hair and Beauty Charity League works with many charities. One of
which empowers children and families in crisis with counseling, education,
and much more. This program is over seen at our partner’s charitable
program by social services. The children's counselor refers them to the Art
of Hair and Beauty Charity League. We have had many cases with many
charities like this one I am about to mention.

Let’s call him John Doe. A counselor sent over a teenager who's very rich
parents, who once had private planes, and a pilot’s license lost most of
their income during this recession. John Doe's parents divorced and he
continued to live with his father. Not knowing how to process the emotional
stress of financial crisis John Doe became in big trouble. His grades went
as low as they could fall and he had gotten himself in to some trouble with
the wrong friends.
He had education; he had counseling, and many other resources that was
provided to him through our amazing charity partner. John Doe walked with
his shoulders and head down and his once straightened but now curly
mushroom like hair cut, he wore under his in expensive hoodie. It wasn't
until John Doe was referred to the Art of Hair and Beauty Charity League
and received a hair cut, new image, and straightened hair that he then felt
better about himself again.
John Doe suddenly raised is fallen grades to A's again. He went on to make
better friends like he once had and started to love himself once more.
Today John Doe has continued to keep his grades high, better, friends, and
a better self image. It took a volunteer hair stylist from The Art of Hair
and Beauty Charity League telling him that he still looks cool and can take
control of his life to look and feel better, for him to make room
emotionally for the other resources and training to take effect in his
life. Here is a great example of how charities can make a greater
difference together.
